Guest Blog by the Nominating Committee
In an inspiring Sunday service, QUUF member Brian Rogers contrasted authoritarian and adaptive leadership. He said, “I think of a leader not as a person at the head of a marching column of people following them. Rather, a leader is more like the conductor in front of an orchestra. The leader doesn’t make the music, but when the leader helps people get aligned, there is beautiful music. It’s not the leader’s vision, but the reflection of the people’s vision.“
As QUUF members, we covenant to love, to share, and to serve. It is essential that we share the responsibilities inherent in maintaining our vibrant community. Continuing Brian’s metaphor, we need “music” makers of all kinds. You can be the instruments of positive change as we seek to become more inclusive, celebrate our strengths and differences. Together, we can work and play in harmony.
The Nominating Committee’s job is to identify and encourage leaders in our congregation to offer their skills to QUUF. This year will be seeking candidates for 3 vacancies on the Board of Trustees, 2 on the Nominating Committee, and 1 on the Endowment Committee. Our committee is considering changes to the process by which we find candidates for election for our Board of Trustees, the Nominating Committee and Endowment Committees.
You will be hearing more from us soon as our process is clarified, but in the meantime, be thinking about QUUF Leadership and how you can be involved, and let us hear from you at QUUFLeaderSearch@gmail.com.
