The provision of reproductive healthcare services at one end of the spectrum to support for end-of-life choices at the other end is increasingly under threat in our country. I will share stories from my life as a recipient and provider of healthcare and place them in the broader context of the current healthcare crisis. We will explore what we can do today to support healthcare as a human right for all, including here and now in Jefferson County.
Kees Kolff was born in the Netherlands and has lived in the US since age 5. He is a Pediatrician and Public Health Professional by training and briefly worked for the Centers for Disease Control. He served as a family physician and the Medical Director of the Sea Mar Community Health Centers when it first started in Seattle in 1978. He and his wife Helen moved to the Olympic Peninsula in 1997 and founded the Port Townsend EcoVillage, where they now live with 27 other adults, 9 children, several dozen chickens and about 100,000 honey bees. He is currently on the Board of Jefferson Healthcare, our Public Hospital District, as well as on the local Board of Health.
