Typically, within the first five minutes of the evening news, we are confronted directly or indirectly with some form of radical fundamentalism. If we are honest, most of us have considerable fear, anger, and contempt towards these people. But who are the fundamentalists – radical and moderate? During this presentation we will begin to investigate what makes fundamentalists tick. We may be surprised to find how many fundamentalists we come in contact with each week. Finally, through the metaphor of Michael Servetus’ death, we will discover what we can do about moderating fundamentalism.

About Tim Berry. Tim was born and raised in Ontario, CA. He and his wife, Jane, were married after he graduated from Loma Linda University where he majored in theology. After graduation he formally entered the Seventh-day Adventist ministry. Tim spent a dozen years pastoring churches in California, Montana, and Washington. He completed his Doctor of Ministry from Fuller Seminary. He and his family eventually lived in MA and CA where he taught ministerial students.
After suffering through a theological crisis, Tim went back to graduate school and completed his Ph.D. in psychology. His dissertation topic was: Personality Correlates of Religious Fundamentalists. By that time he had became an Episcopalian and even flirted with joining the priesthood.
Jane and Tim moved to Sequim in 2005 where he established his clinical psychology practice. They moved their home and practice to Port Townsend in 2013. Tim keeps himself busy with work, a young puppy, and fishing. An avid fly-fisher, he is still very much in the learning mode of saltwater fishing. His latest professional project is developing a digital community for Positive Aging via a blog, where several QUUF members are authors.
