Report from UUA General Assembly

From the QUUF Denominational Affairs Team

For 5 days, 10 of us experienced the intensity of General Assembly (GA) – workshops, worship, singing, lectures and business meetings. The several days of business meeting of our UUA were packed full of information about our religion, values clarification, deepening understanding of accessibility, and inspiration from our elected officials and volunteer leaders. We experienced the news from the Supreme Court while we were in session, and were able to grieve and rage together, as well as strategize for the future. Please read the next few weeks of blogs, as delegates will be writing about memorable experiences.

This link will take you to our UUA President, Susan Frederick-Gray’s Report to the Assembly. It is worth taking the time to watch. You are also invited to watch the GA Sunday Service. In our QUUF Sunday service on June 26, Florence Caplow referenced the minister who delivered the sermon. The opening music is wonderful, and the spoken service begins at 25:22.

A highlight at GA included our own QUUFer. A few weeks ago, we recognized 8 of our youth who are entering young adulthood. We call it Bridging. One of them, Moe Wolf, participated in the UUA General Assembly’s Bridging Ceremony. It was a thrill to see one of our young adults cross the stage and introduce himself (see photo above). In addition to Bridging, Moe participated as an in-person full delegate from QUUF.

Two of our Ministerial Interns were also recognized during the Service of the Living Tradition. Dennis Reynolds, our first intern, was recognized as a retiring minister. And Carol Cissel, our third intern, was also honored during this service for achieving Full Final Fellowship.
