Pastoral Care
The Pastoral Care Team is made up of lay people who serve the congregation by offering caring and spiritual support to members of QUUF in times of need, under the direction of the QUUF Minister. This can include members who cannot attend services for some reason, and those who are ill or grieving or facing other difficulties in their lives.
Care is offered through telephone and written communications, including email and, as arranged, in-person meetings. These conversations are held in confidentiality and are not shared outside the Pastoral Care Team.
In addition, Pastoral Care Team members recruit and coordinate volunteers who provide temporary meal and transportation assistance to QUUF Members and Friends in need during an illness, declining health, surgery or during a personal or family crisis. When requests for any of these services are received, we contact volunteers to see if anyone is available to fulfill the need.
The Pastoral Care Team also occasionally sponsors educational programs on topics relating to health, welfare and/or aging. These programs are open to the entire congregation.
How can you assist the Pastoral Care Team in serving our congregants? Small acts of generosity such as providing a meal, giving a ride, delivering a prescription or helping to walk a pet, trouble-shooting a technology problem, or helping with a small errand – can make a big difference to someone experiencing a medical incident or another unexpected difficulty. Please join our volunteer groups of those willing to respond to these requests. The frequency and conditions of your response to these requests are within your discretion. If you can help, contact Deborah Carroll (360-301-2837).
