A Ministerial Search Committee is a Congregational Committee elected by the Congregation prior to selecting a called minister who will be voted on by the Congregation, whereas a Ministerial Hiring Committee is appointed by the Board prior to hiring a contract minister.

QUUF BYLAWS ARTICLE VIII Committees, Section 3 says: “When calling a minister, the Ministerial Search Committee shall consist of no fewer than six members from a slate nominated by the Nominating Committee and elected by the Fellowship and as many as three additional members to be appointed at the discretion of the Board. Board Trustees are not eligible to serve on the Ministerial Search Committee. The Ministerial Search Committee shall proceed forthwith to search out the person best qualified to serve the Fellowship, report their findings to the Board, and make arrangements for the candidate to be presented to the Fellowship. If a vacancy occurs on either the Ministerial Search or Hiring Committee during a search process, then the impacted Committee may either have the vacancy filled by the Board or recommend that it be left vacant.”
