Policy Development and Approval
Policies help us fulfill the mission of QUUF. They ensure that we respond fairly and equitably, and they provide accountability. They can help deal with conflicts, and may be needed because of legal implications. They provide clarity and help with decision-making.
In July of 2021, after two years of planning and setbacks caused by the pandemic, QUUF began transition to Shared (policy) Governance. Under Shared Governance, the Board is responsible for mission, vision, policy oversight and development, strategic goals, and the fiduciary health of the Fellowship.
The Bylaws/Ops Manual subcommittee of the Governance Task Force spent the 2021-2022 Fellowship year reviewing our Bylaws and Operations Manual and making recommendations for changes to ensure consistency with our new governance model.
At their October 27, 2022 meeting, the Board tasked the Governance Task Force with researching and drafting new policies for Board consideration, as well as reviewing all existing QUUF Policies. The Governance Task Force prioritized immediate infrastructure needs and has been developing policies for congregational input and review of polices.
The Board approves Operations Manual policy additions and changes. Bylaws changes will be brought to the Annual Meeting for a membership vote. In 2023, the Board established a Bylaws Review Committee to conduct an overall review, as required by the bylaws every 7 years. The resulting package of bylaw revisions will be voted upon at the Special Meeting in February 2024. As of January 2024, the Operations Manual is still in the process of being updated as many policies have been developed and approved.
