The other day I was on the phone with my cousin Cubby and as I got deeper into the conversation, I had to paws and consider what a wonderful community you have created and fostered at QUUF. You don’t have to be smarter than the average bear to see your members are talented, creative, and generous. The auction supports QUUF financially, but it is also a community-building event with heart. It’s an opportunity to contribute your time, talents, and treasures and connect with others, besides being QUUF’s most important fundraising event of the year.
At the foundation of our sure-to-be-successful Auction are DONATIONS of every kind and we need more than the bear minimum. I think we can all agree with my ursine friend Winnie the Pooh, that honey would be a great treat. If your trees bear fruit you could make a donation of jam, jelly or pies. Paddington bear loves making marmalade sandwiches. Maybe you love making a meal for others? If you love the movie BAD NEWS BEARS, then offer up a trip to attend a baseball game. I have heard that if you want to bear witness for social justice, hosting a movie and offering dessert and wine is a popular offering.
The deadline for submitting your Donation Form is Monday, October 31, three days from now. You can pick up a hard-copy donation form are available on the Auction bulletin board by the Church office. In sum, DON’T HIBERNATE, DONATE!
You will also want to be part of the epic Teddy Bear Slide Show which will have its premiere at the Auction event on November 18. BUT, you have to send those photos to selfie@quuf.org by November 4 so that your smiling faces can be included in the slide show. If you have a teddy bear handy, definitely include it in your picture.
The Auction will be online and open Nov. 13-20!
The Teddy Bear Auction Event will be on Friday, November 18 – Mark your calendars! Get your tickets! Here’s what will happen:
6-7pm: Mix and mingle under the stars and in Fellowship Hall! We’ll have 2 bonfires in the garden. Toast marshmallows! Make s’mores! Enjoy light snacks, wine, cider and drinks while you mix and mingle with friends. View auction donations on display in Fellowship Hall. And meet me, Teddy Furnandez!
7-8pm: Auction Program in the Sanctuary! Sigrid Cummings will be our Emcee. Joseph Bednarik will lead the Fund-a-Need. We’ll have music, the epic Teddy Bear slide show, and an appearance by Teddy Furnandez. Will he give a Ted Talk or share his gifts as a Bear-i-tone? Friends, fun, laughter and warm fuzzies. What more could you ask for?
Tickets: $10 suggested donation. 18 and under are free.Tickets are available on Sundays and in the Church Office Tuesday through Friday 10-3. With your help we’re on track for an unbearably wonderful auction!
