Reflections on GA 2024 by Kathy Stevenson

The Mission of Our Committee

  • To facilitate our democratic obligation to have QUUF represented at General Assembly and other Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) business meetings and Pacific Western Region business meetings
  • To educate and inform the congregation about the UUA, Pacific Western Region, and other entities.
  • To engage with, and utilize resources of the UUA.
  • To inform Ministry Teams, Board Committees, Task Forces and Board of Trustees of resources available through the UUA.
  • To connect with other UU Congregations in the Puget Sound region and beyond.
  • To connect with other denominations in our community.

The UUA: The mission of the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) is to equip congregations for health and vitality, to support and train lay and professional leaders, and to advance Unitarian Universalist values in the world.

“We are Unitarian Universalists, people of many backgrounds who have different beliefs, but shared values. Together, we offer a guided path towards a better you and a better world. Get to know us in this short animated video.”

QUUF has been a member of the UUA since 1986, when it joined with 22 charter members. Our budget was $2400. 36 years later we have 439 members and a budget of $533,630. Through those years, the UUA has certainly fulfilled their mission for us. Every year staff and congregants attend conferences and workshops. All members are mailed UU World magazine, a window into what UU congregations around the country are doing. There is wisdom and benefit to learning and engaging with our denomination.

Beyond QUUF: In addition to the UUA, the Denominational Affairs Team seeks to connect and collaborate with other UU congregations, particularly in our region. We are also involved in Jefferson County Interfaith Action Coalition, and hope to expand our participation.
