Pastoral Care
The Pastoral Care Team is made up of lay people who serve the congregation by offering caring and spiritual support to members of the church in times of need, under the direction of the QUUF Minister. This can include members who cannot attend services for some reason, and those who are ill or grieving or facing other difficulties in their lives.
Care is offered through personal visits and, as appropriate, by telephone and written contact, including email. These conversations are held in confidentiality, and are not shared outside the Pastoral Care Team.
In addition, Pastoral Care Team members recruit and coordinate volunteers who:
- Provide temporary meal and transportation assistance to QUUF Members and Friends in need during an illness, declining health, surgery or during a personal or family crisis.
- Sponsor Sage Club Luncheons that bring elders (65 and over) together for lunch and entertainment during the year.
- Sponsor educational programs on topics relating to health, welfare and/or aging.
Small acts of generosity – such as providing a meal, giving a ride, delivering a prescription or helping to walk a pet, trouble-shooting a technology problem, or helping with a small errand – can make a big difference to someone experiencing a medical incident or another unexpected difficulty. We are currently gathering categorized lists of people willing to respond to these requests. When requests for any of these services are received, we contact volunteers from our lists to ask if anyone is available to fulfill the need. The frequency and conditions of your response to these requests are within your discretion.
Volunteers are needed for these activities. If you can help, contact Sarah Walker (360-531-3278) or Deborah Carroll (360-301-2837).
To request services from the Pastoral Care Team, QUUF members should contact Deborah or Sarah at the above numbers.

Support Groups
QUUF Affinity Groups:
Disability & Wellness Support – contact Nancy Sendler
Other Recommended Support Groups:
Alzheimer Caregiver Support Group – Patricia Smith
Living Well with Cancer – contact Tess Taft
QUUF’s Pillars for Parents – contact Karl Bach – for parents of adult children who deal with challenges related to the issues of mental illness, addictions, the criminal justice system or a combination of these. The group meets in person the first and third Tuesdays each month, 1-3pm at QUUF. It’s a confidential group and is open to any parents who would like this kind of support. We share our stories in strict confidence and offer support for one another. We each bring a different but very often similar perspective of parenthood. We have an abundance of strength and knowledge to share, resulting in heartfelt, meaningful and growing bonds between us.
